The Martin Luther King, Jr. High School is a public high school located in Lithonia, Georgia. It opened in August 2001, as the newest high school in the DeKalb County School System and was named after the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.
Started in 2001 with the “Dirty Thirty” the Marching Lions band program has become one of the premier programs in Dekalb County. Known as one of the Big Three the Lions have earned Superior Ratings in the District Marching Band Festival for the past 12 years. The Marching Lions have had 2 Valedictorians in their 12 year history. The Marching Lions have traveled to South Africa, and the AT&T Cotton Bowl.Their nickname is “The King’s of Halftime”. Salem Middle School’s band program is a part of MLK’s.
